Hi! I'm Anna, Director and Curator of The Skeleton Crawl. This amazing show has been growing every year with more artists and more participants. What makes the show amazing are the incredibly talented artists who present their work and the incredibly awesome art/Halloween lovers who participate.
If we don't fully fund The Crawl this year it may not happen again. : (
We had 48 participating artists last year in painting, illustration, sculpture, photography, drawing, digital art, mixed media, video, music, poetry, woodworking, and ceramic.
We had an awesome gallery space open all week in Bushwick, Brooklyn for people to wander into and enjoy the art, we had over 100 people show up in person at our event Halloween weekend, we have had 107 views of our Online Digital Show so far, and we sold 7 pieces of incredible art off the walls!
One day, I hope The Crawl will be a self-sustaining machine that just does its thing and benefits artists and art lovers year after year without having to ask for financial help. Unfortunately, that just isn’t where we are at yet with this creepy thing.
Here is an idea of the breakdown of our expenses for this year: $3,000 - venue rental $1268 - miscellaneous items for venue (like hanging hardware, paint, food for volunteers) $327 - legal permits, insurance $318 - transporting gear and artwork to and from the gallery $276 - marketing and promotional materials $144 - annual website fees $115 - security guard $82 - lighting Total expenses: $5,530 Total sales/donations so far: $2,522 How much we still need to raise to cover costs: $3,008
_________________________ All funds raised go into The Skeleton Crawl's bank account and are directly used to cover the cost of the event, the week of the gallery being open, and the yearly fees for having the website up. If we raise more than the amount needed to cover this year, it will spill over for next year's planning. If we raise enough to cover next year as well, I will use the extra to start an artist residency program which will sponsor a Crawl artist to make new work.
